Dental Veneers Sydney Strathfield
Dental veneers are one of the most effective restorative procedures for teeth that will improve the colour, shape, and overall appearance of your teeth that remedy cosmetic problems like chipped, stained or discoloured, are crooked or have gaps between them.
Veneers are finely crafted from either thin pieces of porcelain or composite resin.  Veneers are translucent, very realistic and are bonded to the front surface of your teeth, which is incredibly strong and durable which is an ideal solution to capturing the look you have always wanted with only minimal disturbance to your tooth surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dental veneers can have a major impact on people’s appearance, but more importantly, renewed self-confidence can dramatically improve quality of life. People who have hidden their smiles for years because of discoloured, cracked or chipped teeth can quickly transform their lives through the application of porcelain veneers.
What are the porcelain veneers? Can they repair damaged teeth?
Porcelain veneers are thinly piece of precision-cut porcelain that is glued to the front of your teeth. In case of damage such as cracks, chips or holes, dental veneers are the perfect solution to improve teeth aesthetically and structurally.
What are some of the benefits of having veneers?
Besides the obvious aesthetic improvement, studies have shown that the use of dental veneers strengthens the teeth by 95%. Teeth that have been damaged by cracks, chips or are of uneven length will be aesthetically pleasing with the application of veneers.
Another advantage is that porcelain veneers will fill gaps in the teeth, possibly eliminating the need for braces. Teeth that are too short or long compared to the rest of the mouth can be balanced.
Teeth are rejuvenated by whitening teeth stained and discoloured.
On an emotional level, the upsurge in morale can be dramatic from an elderly or embarrassing smile to a bright, young smile.
How long does it take from start to finish?
The porcelain veneers can be completed on two visits spaced one to two weeks. The first visit involves a long consultation where the dental plan is formed according to what the patient wants to achieve. Then, the teeth are shaped and prepared for veneers. An impression is taken of the teeth and veneers are placed temporarily.
The second visit permanently places the veneers prepared by the laboratory. Before sticking, patients have the opportunity to make other adjustments to colour or shape, because after bonding, they are permanently fixed.
What type of anaesthesia is used?
Most patients are comfortable with the usual local anesthesia for dental procedures. During the shaping and preparation procedures, about 0.5 mm of the surface of the teeth is removed. Depending on the amount of preparation work that will be done, an anesthetic may not be needed at all.
Is the process reversible?
Because a very thin layer of dental enamel must be removed to account for the thickness of the veneer, the process is not considered reversible.
How to take care of my teeth after the veneer?
Once the veneers are glued permanently to the teeth, they are basically your only stronger teeth. Normal brushing and flossing practices and regular visits to cleaning are essential to maintaining dental health.
Does having veneers make my teeth more prone to decay?
No. The veneer makes the teeth more impervious to decay because the veneer is glued to the natural tooth. There is no greater incidence of rot, but teeth should be treated to avoid cavities in unbounded natural teeth.
Will my teeth be sensitive to heat and cold?
There will likely be some sensitivity to food and hot and cold drinks for a short time due to a thin layer of enamel removed. This should disappear in a few days. To allow the veneers to settle down, It should be recommended to avoid hot and cold foods for the first few days.
Can only the top or bottom of the teeth be treated with veneers?
The goal of the finished product is to make sure that everything in the mouth is matched, that a full set of veneers is placed or that some teeth are processed. Patients are advised to whiten untreated teeth before placing veneers to ensure uniformity of colour.
What is the strength of the veneers? Are there any restrictions on what I can eat?
The porcelain veneers are very strong. However, porcelain is a glass and can crack if very strong forces are applied. It is advisable to avoid chewing ice, hard nuts, confectionery apples, popcorn and avoid using the teeth to open the packages, etc.
Natural teeth are often damaged by these same foods and practices and although the porcelain veneers are very resistant, they are not invincible.
I grind my teeth at night. Will this damage my porcelain veneers?
Yes, this will eventually damage your veneers, just as this behaviour will grind the natural teeth. We will provide you with a bite guard to wear at night to reduce stress on your teeth while you sleep.
How long will the veneer last?
Porcelain veneers last a long time. Most patients get ten to twenty years of using their facets before they need to be replaced. Aging is derived from natural teeth as the gums retreat and the teeth become fragile. If a veneer comes off, our dentist can connect it to the tooth or replace it if damaged.
Note: Do not attempt to connect the veneer yourself. If you are away from home, your best option is to find a qualified cosmetic dentist of veneers that can properly connect your veneer.
Do veneers stain?
No, they should never stain. To sustain the consistent shade of your other natural teeth without veneers, you will need to clean your teeth regularly and take measures to avoid stains if you drink red wine, coffee, etc.
Will my insurance cover the cost of veneers?
Most cosmetic procedures are not covered by health insurance. Some insurance companies will cover a percentage of the cost. At the clinic, we can help you determine your coverage limits.
